The Madness: Folklore- Week 4

This is the last week of the Madness for this year.  We will be going into another contest called Noirvember which will be coming out separately from the movie blog.  On Sunday, I will be releasing my 17 year anniversary of the movie blog.  After that, I will be doing it every two weeks instead of every week with the exception of the month of October for the Madness.

________________________________________________

ALYSS WINKLER (6 points)

Alyss is not a wild card but in a rising star on the indie scene and went to see this movies during a double feature in my town at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts.  I also have the honor of getting to film a scene with her which never got off the ground but was quite fun.  Also check out the group Night Art Productions that produced these movies.  Two points for being a live event.  (2 points)

The Grim Findings of Claudius (2022, 65 minutes, 666):  This was a pretty fun and clever movie where Alyss in the object of another man's obsession and is kidnapped by him.  It is very disturbing but also very funny.  (2 points)

Amy is not a wild card this year but found a couple selections to get her into the Madness this year.

A Christmas Horror Story (2015, 99 minutes, 66 1/2):  Amy co-stars as Caprice in this Christmas related horror story.  This is a compilation of stories that are interwoven.  Good selection for those who hate the sappy Christmas movies.  Bonus points should include folklore, Krampas as the devilish character, and weather.  (5 points)

Hell Fest (2018, 89 minutes, 66 1/2):  Amy co-stars in this movie as Natalie who is with a group of friends of what seems like a really cool horror-themed amusement part until an actual serial killer starts wreaking havoc but blended in with the park until they started getting it.  (2 points)

________________________________________________

ANYA TAYLOR-JOY (4 points)

Anya is a wild card this year for the first time even though I have been using her as a category for the last couple years.  She would be a good candidate for a Women in Horror wild card.

The Miniaturist (2017, 154 minutes, 66 1/2):  Anya stars in this PBS mini-series and period piece making this count.  Maybe a bonus for remote village.  (4 points)

Thumbelina (1994, 84 minutes, 66 1/2):  Barbara co-stars as the mother of Thumbelina in Don Bluth's version of the Hans Christian Anderson tale.  Bonus points for fairy tale and book I would say.  (4 points)

Bojana is not a wild card but has a couple selections to become a category.

Birds of Prey and the Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020, 109 minutes, 666):  Bojana plays a cameo role as Erika.  Harley Quinn, Renee Montoya, Huntress, Black Canary, and a pre-Batgirl Cassandra Cain are forced to work through their differences and team up.  This was a pretty fun movie if not taken to seriously and will boldly say that of all the DC Universe films, this comes at number two behind the Zach Snyder cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE. (2 points)

Drag Me to Hell (2009, 99 minutes, 666):  Bojana plays the daughter of the vengeful person wanting revenge for being denied an extension on her loan.  Maybe some sexy witch points? (6 points)

Boris is not a wild card but has been one in the past and is an icon of horror.

Fear Chamber (1971, 88 minutes, 66):  This is Boris's last movie and probably not the most memorable swan song of all time.  Boris stars as Dr. Mantell who along with his team discover a rock that needs emotions to survive so they abduct and sacrifice women.  Yes, lots of wtf to see.  I did find this on Youtube and will give a shoutout to Deadgar's Dark Coffin Classics.  Bonus for human sacrifice.  (3 points)

Christopher is a wild card and anything he has been in gets triple points.

The Lord of the Rings:  Fellowship of the Rings (2001, 178 minutes, 66 1/2):  Christopher co-stars as Saruman in this fantasy series.  I just stuck to the three hours, I just can't do the five hour thing.  (10.5 points)

Florence is a wild card this year and found some really good selections for her.

Black Widow (2021, 134 minutes, 666):  This MCU selection counts this year where Florence is introduced as Yelena into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  (2 points)

Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish) (2020, 25 minutes 66 1/2):  This is a short film that came out during Covid where the Banks family gets together via Zoom.  Florence plays Megan who is one of the twins from part two.  This was a reminder of those crazy times of 2020 and trying to make the most of the circumstances.  (.5 points)

Fighting with my Family (2019, 108 minutes, 666 1/2):  Florence stars as the wrestler Paige aka Saraya so this movie counts in a horror movie and tv contest.  (2 points)

________________________________________________

JOHN LITHGOW (5.5 points)

John is not a wild card but found a couple good selections for him

Pet Sematary (2019, 101 minutes, 66 1/2):  John co-stars in this Stephen King adaptation as Jud who has a very mysterious pet cemetery, yes I spelled it the right way.  I feel this has a cult like society in the scene with the animal procession for a bonus point.  Also, involves the cemetery for another point.  I think I can get one more with being lost in the woods.  (5 points)

Tales From the Crypt:  You, Murderer S6, E15 (1995, 27 minutes, 66 1/2):  John guest stars in this anthology series as Dr. Charles.  This involves him making a criminal look like Humphrey Bogart where one might guess murder happens.  The beginning of the episode with the Cryptkeeper is pretty funny where he parodies FORREST GUMP.  (.5 points)

________________________________________________

KATHLEEN KINMONT (5 points)

This RENEGADE alum Kathleen is not a wild card but decided to pull some work together to get her into the Madness.

Mortal Kombat:  Conquest S1, E21 (1999, 45 minutes, 66 1/2):  Kathleen guest stars in this episode as Dion who is an old friend of Taja but the others question her loyalty.  I think the god Rayden is a bonus point.  (2 points)

Eli (2019, 98 minutes, 66 1/2):  Lili co-stars Dr. Horn who is not quite the great doctor everyone thinks.  I think the religious paraphernalia, the human sacrifice elements and the implication of Satan might get bonus points. (5 points)

________________________________________________

LUCY HALE (4 points)

Lucy is not a wild card this year but has a couple good selections for me.

Scream 4 (2011, 111 minutes, 66 1/2):  Lucy co-stars in this sequel as Sherrie.  After a decade, someone is donning the Ghostface killer outfit and going after Sydney and those around her.  I have not seen the latest one yet but of all the first four, I believe the killer in this one went to the most extreme measures to cover up what they were doing.  (2 points)

Truth or Dare (2018, 100 minutes, 66 1/2):  Lucy co-stars in this film that shows how dangerous the game Truth and Dare can be.  (2 points)

Treasure Planet (2002, 95 minutes, 666):  Michael Wincott stars in this Disney film as Scroop.  This is a pretty clever take on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale TREASURE ISLAND.  I beleive this should qualify for high adventure and maybe creature feature.  (2 points)

Skyfall (2012, 143 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is Naomie's introduction into the Bond franchise where she would become Moneypenny for the Daniel Craig era.  This is possibly my favorite Bond film and has the most emotional depth of a Bond film in my opinion as well as the Daniel Craig era in general.  (2.5 points)

Spectre (2015, 148 minutes, 66 1/2):  Naomie reprises her role as Moneypenny in this Bond film where Bond goes on a rogue mission and needs her help as well as Q.  (2.5 minutes)

V for Vendetta (2005, 132 minutes, 666):  Natalie co-stars in this dark comic book film as Evey who helps the vigilante V to overthrow the government.  I believe this should count for the dystopian society.  (2 points)

Baywatch:  Coronado del Soul Parts 1 and 2 S4, E14 and 15 (1994, 86 minutes, 66 1/2):  When I was watching this show, I liked Pamela Anderson but Nicole was my middle school crush and later Yasmine Bleeth when she replaced Nicole.  Nicole plays Summer Quinn where her and some of the other lifeguards take a weekend in San Diego to demonstrate water rescues.  In her hotel room there is a ghost who believes she is his old flame.  Leave it to me to argue BAYWATCH in the Madness without a wild card.  (2 points)

The Haunting of Morella (1990, 82 minutes, 66):  Nicole stars as Morella and then years later as her duaghter being possessed by Morella.  This is based on a Poe story and I will guess pretty loosely based.  ATB sexy witch points for sexy Nicole.  (6 points)

Glee:  Makeover S4, E3 (2012, 43 minutes, 666):  I might be the first person to feature an episode of GLEE.  This was the first of three episodes where Sarah plays Isabelle Wright who is an executive at Vogue and hires Kurt.  (1 point)
