The Madness: Sucks- Week 4

THE MADNESS:  SUCKS WEEK 4

Welcome to the last week of our annual contest of the Madness.  This is our 15th year of our movie and television watching contest and I admit I get very consumed even for me.  This was something that started in the days of Myspace and has been going since.  Each year we have a different theme with this year's being of vampires.  I do have a lot of vampire selections but I have a lot more and some that should not qualify for a contest like this one but due to what we call the wild card they count so reason.  On Sunday, I will be releasing my 18 year edition of my usually blog series and then I will be going back to the two week format.

ABIGAIL BRESLIN

Abigail is not a wild card but has some acceptable selections for her to get a category.

Slayers (2022, 88 minutes, 66 1/2):  Abigail co-stars as social media star Jules Jay in this vampire comedy that takes jabs at social media as well.
-Vampire
-Vampire slayer
-Shows clips of Nosferatu

Zombieland:  Double Tap (2019, 99 minutes, 666):  Abigail reprises her role as Little Rock where the gang is back together and taking on zombies that have evolved since the last movie.  I thought this was every bit as good as the first one and both stand on their own.
-I feel there is a plague element

____________________________________________________________

ALEXANDER SKARSGARD

Alexander is a wild card this year for the Madness from playing an iconic vampire.

Big Little Lies:  Push Comes to Shove S1, E4 (2017, 52 minutes, 666):  Alexander continues as the fiery Perry in this mystery series.  It is hard to really describe this but it counts this year.

True Blood:  To Love is to Bury S1, E11 (2008, 53 minutes, 666):  Alexander co-stars in this popular vampire series as vampire Eric Northman which is probably what made him into a wild card.
-Vampires
-Louisiana
-Based on novels by Charlaine Harris

ALYSSA MILANO

Alyssa is not a wild card but this CHARMED girl deserves a category and using one within out theme.

Charmed:  All Hell Breaks Loose S3, E22 (2001, 42 minutes, 666):  This is the 3rd season finale where Alyssa plays Phoebe of the Halliwell sisters who get exposed doing magic and must find a way to turn back time.  This would be Shannen Doherty's last episode.

Double Dragon (1994, 96 minutes, 66 1/2):  Alyssa co-stars as Marian in this adaptation to the video game.  This has a Dystopian Society feel to it and just the character Bo Abobo should qualify this.

Embrace of the Vampire (1995, 92 minutes, 66):  Alyssa co-stars as college virgin Charlotte who is targeted by a vampire looking for eternal love.
-Vampire
-Seduction to lure prey
-Interior of a church

Burn Notice:  Old Friends S1, E4 (2007, 42 minutes, 666):  Michael's brother is in town and involves him in the search for a friend's daughter.  I intend to continue this show but it could return for the Madness next year.

Jack of All Trades:  Love Potion #10 S1, E11 (2000, 22 minutes, 666):  Jack and Emilia are hit with the effects of a love potion making it harder for them to complete their mission.

My Southern Family Christmas (2022, 84 minutes, 666):  Bruce co-stars in this Hallmark movie as Everett whose daughter that he let go is trying to get to know him.  Yes, I pull a Hallmark movie into the Madness but one with Bruce and a bonus point.  It is actually quite good for a Hallmark movie but I know some reading this will come after me with torches.
-Louisiana

Carolyn is not a wild card but has some good tv selections to get a category.

The Addams Family:  Christmas With the Addams Family S2, E15 (1965, 25 minutes, 666):  Carolyn stars in this series of the Morticia Addams of the macabre family.  Wednesday and Pugsley are told by their neighbors that there is no Santa Clause leaving the adults of the family to keep the illusion of Santa.

____________________________________________________________

CATHERINE DENEUVE

Catherine is a wild card this year so I can use anything she has done.

A Christmas Tale (2008, 150 minutes, 666):  Catherine stars as Junon who is the matriarch of her dysfunctional family needing a bone marrow transplant which finally brings everyone together.  This is for those that hate the early promotion of Christmas.  This may be enjoyed by the anti-Hallmark crowd.

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964, 91 minutes, 666 1/2):  Catherine stars in this French musical as Genevieve whose lover Guy is separated from her by the war.  I could not pass up exploiting this one as a loophole.

-Vampires

Shadow in the Cloud (2020, 83 minutes, 66 1/2):  Chloe stars as female WWII pilot Maude Garrett who boards a plane but encounters some gremlins on the plane.  Chloe is one celebrity I do not want to make angry along with Liam Neeson.
-Gremlins are a bit vampire like in this movie.

____________________________________________________________

CHRISTOPHER LEE

Chris is of course a wild card in this year's Madness and gets automatic triple points.

The Avengers: Never, Never, Say Die S5, E10 (1967, 51 minutes, 66 1/2):  Chris guest stars in this episode of the spy series as Professor Stone who can't seem to die.
-Christopher Lee ATB

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005, 115 minutes 66 1/2):  Chris is in this adaptation as Willy Wonka's father Dr. Wilbur Wonka so this movie counts this year and could likely make an argument every year with Tim Burton's cinematography.
-Christopher Lee ATB

Horror of Dracula (1958, 82 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is the start of Chris for playing Dracula which used most the characters from Bram Stoker and created their own story due to not getting the rights.  This is one of my favorite adaptations and one of his most iconic roles.
-Christopher Lee ATB

Lord of the Rings:  Return of the King (2003, 264 minutes, 66 1/2):  I watched the extended version of this one as this is the one that has Chris in an appearance as Saruman.

Corporate Animals (2019, 86 minutes, 66):  Dan co-stars in this horror comedy as Billy who is part of a group of employees that are doing team building exercises and end up stuck in a cave.  The horror element is that the group must resort to cannibalism to survive.

Champion (2005, 82 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is a documentary where Danny is interviewed where he talks about his criminal past and how he overcame it to become the actor he is today.  I never knew what a good person Danny is until I watched this documentary and we could use more people like him.

Heat (1995, 170 minutes, 666 1/2):  Danny co-stars as a character who happens to be named Trejo and is part of the heist team.  This has always been a favorite of mine.

Kingpin:  El Velorio S1, E2 (2003, 46 minutes, 666):  Danny was in this episode of the mini-series as Manny in this show about a drug cartel.  I wish he had been in more episodes.

-Romania

Godzilla Raids Again (1955, 78 minutes, 666):  This Kaiju film obviously counts for the madness so no argument needed.

-London

The Stepford Wives (2004, 93 minutes, 66 1/2):  Glenn co-stars in this horror comedy as Claire Wellington.  This is a remake to the 1975 film which had a darker tone to it if I'm not mistaken while this was meant as more of a comedy.

Grace is a wild card this year so anything she has worked on will count.

Falco- Verdammt, Wir Leben Noch! (2008, 109 minutes, 66 1/2):  Grace has a small role in this music biopic as Kellnerin.  I mean, how could I pass up a biopic of Falco when it presents itself as a wild card?

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008, 110 minutes, 666):  Kirsten co-stars in this comedy as Alison who works for a high profile magazine and slowly takes a liking to Simon Pegg.  I was pleasantly surprised and was a good loophole.
