Shaun Berk's 10 Movie Recommendations- 773rd Edition and the Madness: Nature Bites- Week 1

Welcome to the 773rd Edition of my series.  I hope everyone is staying safe.  This month is the Madness which is my favorite part of October so there are two segments this week that include the first week of the Madness so enjoy.

Doctor Sleep (2019):  Mike Flanagan directed this film based on the novel by Stephen King and is a sequel to Stephen King's THE SHINING.  Ewan McGregor stars as a grown Dan Torrance who must protect a young girl with similar powers to his own named Abra Stone, played by Kyleigh Curran, from a cult known as the True Knot which prey on children with powers to remain immortal.  Rebecca Ferguson, Cliff Curtis, Zahn McClarnon Emily Alyn Lind, Selena Anduze, Robert Longstreet, Catherine Parker, Met Clark, Zackary Momoh, Jocelin Donahue, Carl Lumbly, Henry Thomas, Bruce Greenwood, Sallye Hooks, Alex Essoe, Roger Dale Floyd, Jacob Tremblay, and many others co-star in this horror film.  I have not read the book version and this is more of a sequel to the 1980 version of THE SHINING which was directed by Kubrick and Flanagan did what he could to respect the novel and the 1980 movie from what I understand.  This was a pretty compelling watch that pays some homage to its predecessor while making the movie their own.

Epic (2013):  Chris Wedge directed this animated film from Blue Sky which is inspired the book THE LEAF MEN AND THE BRAVE GOOD BUGS by William Joyce.  Amanda Seyfried stars as M.K. who is visiting her father Bomba, voiced by Jason Sudeikis.  Bomba is a very eccentric scientist who has some rather illogical beliefs which drives M.K. nuts but when she is shrunk by the mortally wounded Queen Tara, voiced by Beyonce, and discovers that a world of tiny people and other creatures exist.  She is also asked to finish a task and does so with the help of Leafman warrior Ronin, voiced by Colin Farrell, and the less experienced Nod, voiced by Josh Hutcherson.  Blake Anderson, Aziz Ansari, John DiMaggio, Troy Evans, Helen Hong, Kelly Keaton, Emma Kenney, Kyle Kinane, Pitbull, Christoph Waltz, Thomas F. Wilson, Steven Tyler, Johnny Knoxville and many others provider their voices to this animated movie.  Aerosmith's Steven Tyler was very amusing in his small role.  This is a pretty fun family movie focusing on saving a forest and a troubled father/daughter relationship.

The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey (2012):  Peter Jackson directed this film which is the first of his trilogy and based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.  This centers around hobbit Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman while also played by Ian Holm in a cameo of scenes of him reflecting on his younger days as well as Elijah Wood having a cameo as Frodo.  Bilbo is approached by Gandalf, reprised by Ian McKellan, to take the journey with a group of dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield, played by Richard Armitage, to Lonely Mountain.  Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Dean O'Gorman, Aidan Turner, John Callen, Peter Hambleton, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Andy Serkis, Manu Bennett, Lee Pace, Benedict Cumberbatch, and many others co-star in this film.  Tolkien's LORD OF THE RINGS book series is an actual trilogy whereas this was based on one book which Jackson decided to expand.  I have never read any of these books so I was not able to judge by the books.  I have to be honest, LOTR was always a rather mixed bag for me but I found myself in more enjoyment of these movies.

Pyramids of Terror (1979):  I am billing this as my short film for the week but technically it is the first episode of the superhero animated series SPIDER-WOMAN which was directed by Bob Richardson and yes you read that right, Spider-Woman not Spider-man though this episode does feature him.  Joan Van Ark provides the the voice for Jessica Drew who is the editor for Justice Magazine but is also Spider-Woman.  In this episode, Spider-Woman investigates some mummy activity in Egypt where Spider-Man, voiced by Paul Soles, is already on the scene and really ends up needing Spider-Woman's help.  Jessica's origins and abilities are a little different from Peter Parker's.  This episode shows how as a child she was bitten by a deadly spider and her scientist father injects her with an experiments serum not knowing the powers it will give her.  This and the rest of the series is available to watch on Disney Plus

The Lodger:  A Story of London Fog (1927):  This is my silent film for the week which was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the novel by Marie Belloc Lowndes.  Marie Ault and Authur Chesney are the owners of a lodge and a mysterious man, played by Ivor Novello, arrives as their new lodger.  They suspect this man of being a serial killer known as "The Avenger".  June Tripp and Malcolm Keen co-star in this silent film.  This is very early in Hitchcock's career and was really the start of one of his favorite themes of mistaken identity.  This is also the first movie where he makes one of his cameo appearances.  This is a very suspenseful and well shot film and was pretty easy to follow.  This is available to watch on the Criterion Channel and appears to be a longer version than the original which was subject to cuts with producers fearing his progressive style.

Caltiki:  The Immortal Monster (1959):  This is my Italian selection for the week which was directed by Riccardo Freda.  A group of archaeologists come across a blob-like creature which they believe they destroyed but as the title indicates, not so much.  John Merivale, Gerard Herter, Giacome Rossi Stuart, Daniele Vargas, Arturo Dominici, and many others co-star in this Italian horror film.  Freda has said that he abandoned this project to give a young Mario Bava a chance to direct.  This was a pretty well shot film and one for foreign horror buffs.  This is available to watch on Amazon Prime.

Unbreakable (2000):  M. Night Shyamalan wrote and directed this film which could be described as a superhero movie the Shyamalan way.  Bruce Willis stars as David Dunn who is a seemingly ordinary person but questions what happened that not only was he the sole survivor of a bad train accident, but that he came out unscathed.  Samuel L. Jackson co-stars as the mysterious Elijah Price who is fascinated by Dunn and tries to explain to him the type of person he really is.  Robin Wright, Spencer Treat Clark, Charlayne Woodard, Eamonn Walker, Leslie Stefanson, Johnny Hiram Jamison, and many others co-star in this film.  This is a very fascinating film dealing with superheroes with good performances from Willis and Jackson.  This would become a trilogy from Shyamalan.

The Ghost Breakers (1940):  Now I bring some horror comedy which was directed by George Marshall and based on the play by Paul Dickey.  Bob Hope stars as radio DJ Larry Lawrence who believes he has killed a mobster.  He manages to flee to small island in Cuba which was inherited by Mary Carter, played by Paulette Goddard, despite warnings that the house is haunted.  They must deal with things like ghosts and zombies.  Richard Carlson, Paul Lukas, Willie Best, Pedro de Cordoba, Virginia Brissac, Noble Johnson, Anthony Quinn, and many others co-star in this comedy.  This has some good Bob Hope humor and some pretty good special effects for the era.

The Stepford Wives (1975):  Bryan Forbes directed this film based on the novel by Ira Levin.  Katherine Ross stars as Joanna Eberhart who moves to the small town of Stepford, Connecticut with her husband and children where she tries to fit in with the suburban wives.  She sees they are all really happy but seem just a little too happy and perfect.  Paula Prentiss, Peter Masterson, Nanette Newman, Tina Louise, Carol Eve Rossen, William Prince, Carole Mallory, Josef Sommer, Mary Stuart Masterson, Dee Wallace, Patrick O'Neal, and many others co-star in this film.  Mary Stuart Masterson makes her debut as Joanna's daughter and her father was played by her real-life father Peter Masterson.  This was one of Jordan Peele's biggest inspirations to his 2017 film GET OUT.  This was a pretty compelling look at the dark side of suburban life.  They probably should have chosen Stamford, Connecticut, then the family could have maybe gotten involved in wresting but I don't know that WWE Headquarters was there at the time.  This is available to watch on Amazon Prime.

Hocus Pocus (1993):  I end the week with this popular Halloween live-action Disney film.  Omri Katz stars as Max who is a teen that just moved to Salem with his family and on Halloween night, while going on a walk with his sister Dani, played by Thora Birth, he unknowingly brings back a trio of witches that were banished 300 years ago.  Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker star as the witches Winifred, Mary, and Sarah who wreak havoc all over town leaving it up to Max, Dani, and their friends to save the town.  Vinessa Shaw, Larry Bagby, Tobias Jelinek, Stephanie Faracy, Charles Rocket, Doug Jones, Sean Murray, Norbert Weisser, Kathleen Freeman, Jason Marsdon, Garry Marshall, Penny Marshall, and many others co-star in this witch comedy.  I am kind of surprised this has not become a Broadway musical.  Midler gets to show her music talent which we were all aware of and Parker even got to show some of her own music talent.  I think just about anyone who has wanted to see this has by now and has remained a very timeless Halloween movie.  This is available to watch on Disney Plus.

Well, that is it for this week but keep on reading for the first week of the Madness.  Tell me what you like and dislike and stay tuned for next week which includes Keanu Reeves, Lee Van Cleef, Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, James McAvoy, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Cameron Diaz, and many others.

THE MADNESS:  NATURE BITES WEEK 1

This is the 13th year of our annual contest that started back in the Myspace days and I have been around for every one.  I have never won this contest but for me, I enjoy putting this together.  I am also known as the King of the Loophole in which a handful of people are named that accommodate to our theme and any movie can be counted.  In the past I have been known to make movies like ROCKY, THE GODFATHER PART II, GLADIATOR, TITANIC and many others count.  Our theme this year focuses on nature like animals attacking, disasters, and even vengeful plants.  We can still use any other horror or Halloween related selections.  As always, I like to categorize my selections that have first priority being the wild cards, then actors that might have two or more selections, then by categories like sub-genre.  They also require me to rate my selections which I hate doing honestly but I always use the four 6 rating system instead of stars.

BRUCE WILLIS

Bruce is not a wild card but had more than one selection.  I could have used M. Night Shyamalan who directed both of these selections but I chose Mr. Willis for this one.

The Sixth Sense (1999, 107 minutes, 666 1/2):  Bruce plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe who is assigned to help a frightened boy with a terrifying secret.  This ghost story is my favorite Shyamalan film and always counts for the madness.

The Twilight Zone:  Shatterday S1, E1 (1985, 23 minutes, 666):  This is the first episode of the reboot series which was directed by Wes Craven.  Bruce stars in this episode as Peter Novins who calls his home only to hear himself on the other line.  This was a good way to bring this show to a new generation and a decent episode with Willis before he became the star he is today.

Unbreakable (2000, 106 minutes, 666 1/2):  Bruce stars as David Dunn, who slowly discovers his superpowers when nothing seems to hurt him in this unconventional superhero movie.  I will say that there was a train accident where he was the sole survivor so looking to see if that qualifies as a disaster to get bonus points.  I believe the dark tones of this movie should make this qualify for the Madness.

____________________________________________________________________________

COLIN FARRELL

Colin is not a wild card this year but found a couple of his selections to give him the honor of being featured on my blog.

Epic (2013, 102 minutes, 66 1/2):  Colin provides the voice for the character Ronin.  I think this should qualify as a creature feature.  This also takes place a lot in the woods so looking for a bonus point there.

The Lobster (2015, 119 minutes, 66):  This has a dystopian element that should get me some basic points.  I was hoping with the plot line of people must find love in 45 days or they are turned into an animal would result into animals attacking humans but I did not get that and I can't even explain really what I watched beyond the given plot.

____________________________________________________________________________

DOUG JONES

Doug is not a wild card but hope one day he becomes one.  Hopefully we'll do a theme someday which fits Mr. Jones and I get to include his movie MY NAME IS JERRY which was filmed in my town of Muncie, Indiana where I was an extra.  I got to meet him a couple of times and is a really cool guy so I try to include him in the Madness when I can.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:  Hush S4, E10 (1999, 44 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is one of the most popular episodes of the series.  Doug has a guest appearance where he leads a group called the Gentlemen who steal all the voices from Sunnydale.

Crimson Peak (2015, 119 minutes, 666):  Doug plays the two creepy looking female entities in the house with some dark family secrets.  We also get Mia Wasikowska vs. Jessica Chastain.

Hocus Pocus (1993, 96 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is one of Doug's earlier roles as the zombie Billy Butcherson and is an early look at his expertise in prosthetic.  The witchcraft theme makes this an explanation for this to count every year.  Also, there is a scene where butterflies are coming out of his mouth that are apparently real, looking to see if that qualifies for any bonus points.

John Dies at the End (2012, 99 minutes, 66):  Doug co-stars in this horror comedy as Roger North.  There is an animation sequence where spiders kill a bunch of people.

____________________________________________________________________________

THE FARMLAND MAFIA

This is a local group in the town next to mine that have their own group which is technically called the Farmland Community Players but I just think the Farmland Mafia sounds pretty cool.  They did a couple of independent horror films that were directed by John Oak Dalton that were filmed in quite a bit of Farmland and have a few people I know.

The Girl in the Crawlspace (2018, 76 minutes, 666):  This was featured in last week's edition of my blog.  This qualifies as horror with the "Crawlspace Killer".  This is some local horror that is available on Prime and it was cool to see some friends.

Scarecrow County (2019, 75 minutes, 666):  This is another movie which features much of the group and films in very familiar locations near my area.  A murderous scarecrow is out killing one another while lots of secrets are exposed.

____________________________________________________________________________

FOREIGN HORROR

Caltiki, The Immortal Monster (1959, 77 minutes, 66 1/2):  This Italian film qualifies as a creature feature.

____________________________________________________________________________

GENE ROTH

Gene is not a wild card but decided to make a category for this character actor who did a lot in the way of sci-fi and horror.

Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959, 62 minutes, 66):  Gene plays the small town sheriff investigating the murders happening.  This B-movie should get me some bonus points for leeches that are enhanced and attacking humans.

The Twilight Zone:  Shadow Play S2, E26 (1961, 25 minutes, 666):  Gene plays the judge in this episode.  Dennis Weaver stars as a man who is living a recurring nightmare where he is to be executed.

____________________________________________________________________________

JOCELIN DONAHUE

Jocelin is not a wild card this year but I had a couple of her movies on my list so decided to make her into a category.  Maybe one day she'll be considered as a wild card if I ever get my wish and do a them of women in horror.

Doctor Sleep (2019, 152 minutes 666):  Jocelin plays the character Lucy Stone in this film and the mother to Abra who is a young girl with similar psychic powers that Dan Torrence must protect.  This adaptation of the Stephen King novel needs no explanation.

House of the Devil (2009, 95 minutes, 666 1/2):  Jocelin stars in this horror film as Samantha who is a struggling college student desperate for money.  She takes a very odd "babysitting" job only to learn it is a satanic cult.  This is one of my favorite horror films and love the '80s style filming and the soundtrack.

____________________________________________________________________________

JOHN CARPENTER

John is not a wild card this year but we have had him as a wild card in the past.  I had a couple movies that he directed on my list.

They Live (1988, 94 minutes, 666 1/2):  John directed this sci-fi cult classic which stars wrestling legend Roddy Piper.  This sci-fi classic is considered horror in the ways aliens have taken over the earth.

The Ward (2010, 89 minutes, 66 1/2):  John directed this movie that takes place in an asylum and has a ghost haunting it so no argument needed to count this one.

____________________________________________________________________________

JOHN CUSACK

John is not a wild card this year but found a couple animated selections that qualify so I made a category out of him.

Anastasia (1997, 94 minutes, 666 1/2):  John plays Dimitri who is a con man looking to find a missing princess but things change when he finds she really is the princess.  There are some fantasy elements here with Rasputin selling his soul and the powers he receives.

Igor (2008, 87 minutes, 666):  John provides to voice for Igor who is forced to be the henchman to an evil scientist but longs to be an evil scientist himself.  This should get bonus points for Scamper who is an immortal rabbit and attacks some humans.

____________________________________________________________________________

LEE VAN CLEEF

Lee is a wild card this year so I can use any of his movies and tv shows and he will be used quite a bit in the next few weeks.

Kansas City Confidential (1952, 99 minutes, 66 1/2):  Lee co-stars in this film as Tony Romano who helps frame the protagonist for a bank robbery.

____________________________________________________________________________

LOMBARDO BOYAR

Lombardo is not a wild card this year but decided to make this actor and stand-up comedian a category hoping to help get him some recognition.

Big Ass Spider (2013, 80 minutes, 666):  Lombardo co-stars as a security guard helping exterminator Alex.  This has just as the title indicates which kills people so I'm sure we can work out some bonus points here.

Coco (2017, 105 minutes, 666 1/2):  Lombardo voices the plaza mariachi and the role of Gustavo.  This counts because of the ghosts and the spirit animal creatures.  Also, I saw this at a drive-in theater so if I'm not mistaken that is extra points.

____________________________________________________________________________

LOU FERRIGNO

This actor and bodybuilder is not a wild card this year but I made a category for him including his most known role but in animated form.

Hercules (1983, 98 minutes 66):  Lou got to play the title character in this really bad version of the legend, which include things like robots.  This has some Golden Raspberry honors.   This should qualify as fantasy.

The Incredible Hulk:  The Return of the Beast Part 1 S1, E1 and 2 (1996, 44 minutes, 66 1/2):  These are the first two episodes of the animated series where Lou reprises his role of the Hulk.  In the second episode there are some mutated creatures like a lobster which attacks Betty Ross.

____________________________________________________________________________

MARILYN HANOLD

Marilyn is not a wild card this year but found enough to make her into a category even though she had a fairly short career in film and television.

Batman:  The Devil's Fingers and the Dead Ringers S2, E15, 16 (1966, 45 minutes, 66 1/2):  Marilyn plays the henchwoman Doe in a crime ring lead by none other than Liberace in a dual role.

The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962, 66 1/2, 82 minutes):  Marilyn plays the role of Peggy Howard in this B-movie horror film.  No explanation needed in this one, this is considered a B-movie but a more compelling one.

____________________________________________________________________________

PAUL FIX

Paul is not a wild card this year but decided to make a category for this character actor who worked a lot in tv and film.  He is likely known for his westerns but has done some work that qualifies for the Madness.

The Ghost Breakers (1940, 85 minutes, 66 1/2):  Paul plays the role of Frenchy Duval who is the one that brings everyone together to his home which is haunted.  This is a classic horror comedy that should count for the Madness.

The Twilight Zone:  I am the Night- Color Me Black S5, E26 (1964, 25 minutes, 666):  Paul plays the local editor in a town where the sun does not rise and there is an execution to be done.  Interesting message about hate.

____________________________________________________________________________

PETER JACKSON

This New Zealand director is not a wild card this year but has been one in the past.

Dead Alive (1992, 104 minutes, 666):  This is one of Peter's earlier directorial efforts.  This is a zombie kind of movie where Sumatran rat-monkey bites people and they essentially become a zombie so I believe I get bonus points for this monkey.

The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey (2012, 169 minutes, 66 1/2):  This is the start of Peter's Hobbit trilogy which was quite expanded for the book.  This fantasy should have no issues for qualifications.

____________________________________________________________________________

RACHEL TRUE

Rachel is a wild card this year, likely on account of her work on some of the SHARKNADO movies and her tv movie BLOOD LAKE:  ATTACK OF THE KILLER LAMPREYS.  I can use any of her work to count in the Madness.

Dawson's Creek:  Hopeless S4, E13 (2001, 44 minutes, 666):  When this show was on, I was a casual watcher of the show.  Rachel is a guest star as one of Gretchen's friends that she wants Dawson to get to know which becomes awkward for him.  I was also reminded of the character Drue, played by Mark Matkevich, and liking what that character added to the series.

Family Matters:  What's Up Doc S6, E21 (1995, 23 minutes, 66 1/2):  This is an episode of the popular family sitcom.  The Winslow family decides to see a psychiatrist to deal with the neighbor Steve Urkel which provokes this to show clips from past episodes.  I have not seen this show in many years so while I'm not usually big into these kinds of episodes, this was the right time for me to come upon one to see Urkel at different ages.  Rachel guest stars as Sue which was a date for Eddie Winslow.

Renegade:  Vanished S1, E20 (1993, 44 minutes, 66 1/2):  This was one of my favorite shows during the '90s when I was middle school.  This is about a man named Reno Raines, played by Lorenzo Lamas, who was a cop and framed for murder when it was learned he was about to testify against some corruption in the police force.  While trying to clear his name, he also works as a bounty hunter.  In this episode, Rachel is a guest star playing the daughter of Reno's best friend who ends up in the wrong crowd.  A young Michael Jai White also guest stars in this episode.  I recently did a binge of this show which is more like a guilty pleasure now but could not help but enjoy.

Sharknado 2 (2014, 95 minutes, 66 1/2):  I gave Tara the first one now I will give Rachel this sequel where she plays 1st Officer Jonni Vanentine.  The first one was in L.A. but now the sharks are back at full force in New York where Fin, played by Ian Zierling, must look to save the town like he did L.A.  This one has more in the way of celebrity cameos like WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, Billy Ray Cyrus, and even Biz Markie.
____________________________________________________________________________

SHANNON ELIZABETH

Shannon is not a wild card this year but found a couple movies on my list to make this comedic actress into a category.

Scary Movie (2000, 88 minutes, 66):  Shannon co-stars as Buffy in this spoof of what was already a parody in SCREAM.  For me, some jokes were very funny, others didn't work for me but it has an audience.

Thir13en Ghosts (2001, 91 minutes, 66 1/2):  Shannon plays Kathy whose father inherits a home only to find it is full of ghosts.  This is a remake of the 1960 movie and I enjoyed this quite a bit.

____________________________________________________________________________

SLASHERS AND SERIAL KILLERS

The Lodger:  The Story of the London Fog (1927, 92 minutes, 666):  I am pretty sure this will be my only silent film on this contest.  Alfred Hitchcock directed this film about a serial killer so should qualify.

____________________________________________________________________________

SUPERHEROES

Avengers Assemble:  Doomstroyer S1, E10 (2013, 22 minutes, 666):  The Avengers must take on Doctor Doom and Thor must convince them to trust his brother Loki.

Avengers Assemble:  Hulked Out Hereoes S1, E11 (2013, 22 minutes 666 1/2):  I really liked this episode where the rest of the Avengers get exposed to gamma radiation and resort to becoming like Hulk.  The Hulk and Black Widow must work together to turn them back to normal.  What I liked about he episode is it shows Hulk understanding how he can be difficult and the rest understanding how difficult it can be for the Hulk.

The Boys:  What I Know, S2, E8 (2020, 66 minutes, 666 1/2):  This is the second season finale of this superhero series on prime.  This has become one of my favorite shows and I don't even mind that they do weekly episodic shows instead of putting it all out at once.  I feel this should count a lot of due to the gruesome deaths on this show.  To those that would rather binge, season two is ready.  I have seen some one star reviews from people who object to the weekly episodes which is kind of a pet peeve of mine.  I don't mind a one star review but would rather see it about the actual material.  I hope they are able to get going on season three before too long.

Spider-Woman:  Pyramids of Terror S1, E1 (1979, 21 minutes, 66 1/2):  This is an earlier superhero cartoon that features Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman.  This episode shows her being bit by a spider so hoping for bonus points.

____________________________________________________________________________

STEVEN SPIELBERG

Steven is a wild card this year on account of his classic film JAWS so I can use anything he was in, directs, or produces and there will be a few more selections in the coming weeks for Mr. Spielberg.

Animaniacs:  E1, S1 (1993, 22 minutes, 666):  Steven Spielberg was the executive producer of the Hollywood parody animated series.  I watched it some as a kid but it was good to relive it with the Warner brothers Yakko, Wakko, and Warner sister Dot.

Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002, 94 minutes, 666):  Steven has a cameo in the beginning as himself.  This is the third of the Austin Powers trilogy in this James Bond parody.  Mike Myers reprises his roles of Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, and Fat Bastard but adds a fourth character in the villain Goldmember.  Beyonce plays Foxxy Cleopatra which I have not put together as an homage to Blaxploitation legends Foxy Brown and Cleopatra Jones.

The BFG (2016, 117 minutes, 66 1/2):  Spielberg directed this adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel about a big friendly giant who lives in a land where he is really the only friendly giant.  This is Spielberg's only time to direct for Disney.

Columbo:  Murder by the Book S1, E1 (1971, 76 minutes, 666):  Yes, Spielberg directed the first aired episode of this tv series so this episode of COLUMBO counts for this horror movie and tv contest which is one of many which make me "The King of the Loophole".

1941 (1979, 144 minutes, 666):  Steven directed this war parody of that days after the Pearl Harbor bombing.  There is a scene where a few Japanese guys are disguised as trees and attack a guy so looking to see if that qualifies for a bonus point.

Paul (2011,104 minutes, 666):  Usually this does not count for the madness being that it is mostly standard sci-fi but with Steven having a voice cameo as himself, it gets used.  This is a nice homage to the world of sci-fi.  I could not find a photo of the scene so I'll just post the cover.

Pinky and the Brain S1, E1 (1995, 22 minutes, 666):  Spielberg produced this animated series that is a spinoff of ANIMANIACS of two lab mice trying to take over the world.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981, 115 minutes 6666):  Steven directed what is possibly the best adventure film of all time.  I believe the climax at the end always makes this qualify but I don't have to argue that this year.  Also, Indy did have some trouble with the snakes so maybe some bonus points there.  I was hoping the monkey would attack someone but no luck.

Saving Private Ryan (1998, 169 minutes, 666 1/2):  Steven Spielberg directed this war film which I can now use to count in the Madness.  Watching this again, it does have quite the array of actors before their careers took off.

Steven Spielberg Presents:  Tiny Toons Adventures S1, E1 (1990, 22 minutes 666):  This is another animated series that Steven Spielberg was the executive producer.  This is kind of like the next generation for Looney Toons while still having appearances by the older characters.  In the first episode, Buster and Babs bunny kind of attacked their creator which was a human.

____________________________________________________________________________

TARA REID

Tara is a wild card this year mostly on account of the SHARKNADO franchise but has done quite a bit of horror to make her a worthy selection.

5th Borough (2020, 95 minutes, 666):  Tara stars in this independent film as the mother of a daughter who has cancer and whose husband resorts to a life of crime to make the money needed.  This is a pretty underrated independent film.

Sharknado (2013, 86 minutes, 66 1/2):  This is the start to quite a franchise.  Once again, Tara plays a mother to a couple kids and must band together with her estranged husband.  Plenty of disaster and shark attack elements that should get me some extra points.

____________________________________________________________________________

TINA LOUISE

This GILLIGAN'S ISLAND actress is not a wild card this year but was able to make a category for her in some qualifying selections.

Monsters:  Talk Nice to Me S3, E21 (1991, 21 minutes, 66 1/2):  This is an anthology I came across which I feel is kind of a cross between TALES FROM THE CRYPT and THE TWILIGHT ZONE.  The episodes start out with a family of monsters getting together to watch a different horror story.  In this one, Tina is the voice of a mysterious woman who continues to harass a womanizer over the phone which drives the man to insanity.

The Stepford Wives (1975, 115 minutes, 666):  Tina plays suburban wife Charmaine Wimperis in a world that is just a little too perfect.  This horror classic qualifies for this year's madness.
